Jade Spring Hill

  Jade Spring Hill is located to the west of the Summer Palace in Beijing's Hadian District, China. It is named after the Jade Spring. It is the location of theXiangji Temple, the Yufeng Pagoda, the Jinxing Palace and the Furong Palace. Jade Spring Hill is the villa area of the Central Military Commission (CMC), which is not open to the public.

  The spring water of Jade Spring Hill was approved by Emperor Qianlong as “the first spring water in the world”, and Jade Spring Hill was also one of the eight sceneries in Yanjing of the Jin Dynasty. In Jin Dynasty, a courtyard was built and its name was changed in the Qianlong Period.

   In Qing Dynasty, the drinking water in the imperial palace was from Jade Fountain Hill, the water was transported with waterwheel from Xizhimen to the palace everyday. Everyday after the gate of Xizhimen was open, the first to enter was the water transportation vehicle of the imperial palace and there were four large water buckets covered with tarpaulin in each wagon. The rice irrigated with the water of Jade Spring Hill has an extremely good quality and also the spring water of Jade Spring Hill was also the water source of the Summer Palace.
