Travel Note - Fragrant Hills Park: Choose the Right Day2016-03-30 11:39:13Share:
Public transport is very good. Take the 360, 360# or 714 from Beijing Zoo entrance (Metro Line 4). 2 Yuan. On a good day, about 45 minutes.
However, under no circumstances go on weekends or holidays. The bus got stuck in a traffic jam about three miles out, so abandoned it. On the Monday, got there with no problem. You can walk up the peak by several routes or take a cable car for 80 yuan.
A lot of people talk about the autumn leaves, but at this time of year the cherry blossom and tulip trees are lovely. The views around are nice, but the wider view was spoiled by the smog ( though I suppose if it were clear there would be traffic jams!) A nice street selling food and souvenirs led up to it.
This is a must-see nature park only a half hour from downtown.
Beijing. It has thousands of beautiful old trees, flowers and historical temples and pagodas. We love to visit there in the winter time after snowfall. Its so so beautiful there. In the fall, the leaves changing color has a totally different view. In the Spring time, there are so much different flowers and smells heavenly- that why it called Fragrant Hills. A very nice day out, and as a tip the south side of the mountain is much less busy than the north.
